i Light Singapore 2020 will be held from March 6 to 29, 2020.

The eighth edition of the light art festival will be held at Marina Bay.

Extended hours up to 12am

This year's theme -- Re:Light, Re:Live, Re:Imagine -- hopes to encourage conversations about lifestyle and decision-making to achieve a more sustainable future.

The festival will be opened daily from 7:30pm to 11pm.

It will have extended hours up to 12am on Fridays and Saturdays.

Here's what to expect at this year's edition.

Featured installations

Ruffled Ice is one of the installations featured at this year's i Light.

Illustration from DP Design.

Designed by local design firm DP Design, the firm will be working with a local plastic recycling company and using plastic waste collected from several other companies.

The installation features redundant packaging materials, which are turned into plastic ruffles that would be sculpted onto a Mist Walk decorated with fibre optic LED lights.

This installation aims to illustrate the damage discarded plastic has on the environment.

Another installation, Underworld, is a spatial installation involving luminous forms to depict an imaginary undersea settlement.

Illustration by Aleksandra Stratimirovic and Leonel Kaplan.

It aims to highlight the fragility of the marine ecosystem.

Designed by two designers from Sweden and Argentina, the installation makes use of discarded fishing nets collected at the Sotenäs Marine Recycling Center in Sweden to form giant lanterns.

More details on the full line-up of artworks and programming of the festival will be announced in Feb. 2020.
