On Feb. 7, the Ministry of Health (MOH) announced the second discharged case of the coronavirus in Singapore.

The patient, 53-year-old Jiang, was the second confirmed case in Singapore.

She stayed at J8 hotel and visited the Orchard area, Marina Bay Sands and Gardens by the Bay.

Thought Singapore was a nice place

The Wuhan resident and semi-retiree arrived in Singapore on Jan. 21 with her daughter for sightseeing.

In an interview with MOH, Jiang spoke in Mandarin that she wanted to visit Singapore after hearing good things about it from her daughter and her daughter's classmates.

They told her that Singapore is clean and the people are friendly.

Jiang's daughter then saved her salary and bought a ticket for Jiang to visit Singapore.

Did not believe it at first

On her flight here, Jiang was reported to have no fever during the flight.

However, she developed a fever, cough, and chills in the afternoon.

Upon presenting herself at Tan Tock Seng Hospital at 8pm on Jan. 22, she was immediately placed in isolation.

Even after being diagnosed with pneumonia, Jiang did not believe that it was the coronavirus.

"I found it unbelievable as I thought I had the common cold. I had such symptoms before which were like the common cold. Even then, I didn’t believe I caught the 2019-nCoV infection, I comforted myself that: 'It was just the typical pneumonia.'"

Not afraid because of the wonderful medical team

On her experience in the hospital, Jiang says that the room she stayed in was "good", and the medical staff was "caring and encouraging".

As she has diabetes and high blood pressure, the staff regularly checked on her blood levels and heart and did blood tests for her.

Describing the medical care as "very good", she thanked the staff for taking good care of her, even though she was a foreigner.

Jiang added that she was "not afraid" because of the wonderful medical team Singapore has.

Upon discharge, Jiang looks forward to going home.

"To be honest, Singapore is a wonderful country, in terms of its climate and in other areas too, but this is not my homeland after all."
