87-year-old woman in Wuhan discharged after recovering from Wuhan virus

An 87-year-old Wuhan resident has recovered from the Wuhan virus, according Chinese state media People's Daily on Jan. 28.

People's Daily reports that a total of five patients have been discharged from Wuhan Lung Branch Hospital after receiving treatment for the novel coronavirus.

The 87-year-old granny was reportedly one of the five.

The granny left the hospital in a wheelchair and was welcomed with loud applause from medical staff in the lift lobby.

Three-day fever

The elderly woman was reportedly feeble and had a fever at 38°C when she was hospitalised on Jan. 20.

The patient also had other virus infections causing leading to pneumonia, in addition to a heart attack last Dec. as well as other medical conditions.

After being admitted into the hospital, she had a fever for three consecutive days while receiving treatment.

After many days of treatment, a computerized tomography (CT) scan and test results finally revealed that the elderly woman has been cleared of the potentially fatal virus.

She is now discharged, but will be quarantined at home for at least one to two weeks as a precaution.

There are currently over 4,000 confirmed cases, 106 deaths, and 60 cases of recovery from the virus.
